The Cloaking Device is a Light class specialization that allows its user to enter invisibility for a limited duration.
Usage
The Cloaking Device can be selected as the specialization gadget of any Light build loadout.
The specialization trigger can be used to toggle on the gadget. It will remain active for up to 12 seconds, after which it is automatically disabled to recharge. It can also be disabled before this point by toggling it again. Attacking or using an item will forcibly end the effect.

Stats
Effects
The Cloaking Device can be activated to grant its user temporary invisibility. Opponents will not be able to see the user well, although there are still indications that the user is present:
- A glitchy visual effect replaces the contestant's body. This effect is almost completely invisible while the user is standing still, but very noticeable if the user is moving.
- A glitchy sound is produced when you; activate cloak, move while cloaked, or the cloak is deactivated. This can be heard by enemies up to 30m away.
The Cloaking Device consumes energy based on the user’s movement speed while cloaked, remaining motionless consumes the least amount of energy, enabling the user to stay cloaked for a maximum of 27 seconds in a single charge.
The Cloaking Device’s invisibility will not be disrupted by burning or poison damage.

Guide
Strengths
- Standing still while cloaked will make the user nearly undetectable, even to opponents who are walking directly past the user. The user still has collision which could give them away if an opponent bumps into them.
Weaknesses
- Thermal Vision hard counters the Cloaking Device as it can also reveal the heat signature of a cloaked player.
- Detection sources such as the Motion Sensor and Sonar Grenade can still reveal the location of a cloaked enemy.
- When you activate or deactivate the Cloaking Device, it makes a distinct sound that can be heard from up to 30m away.
- Moving while cloaked makes a loud distinct sound which can also be heard from up to 30m away.
- Taking damage will cause a cloaked player to instantly decloak.
- Activating cloak consumes 33% of your overall meter, punishing repeated uses.
Tactics
- Remaining in a motionless state while cloaked will make it nearly impossible for enemies to see and hear you and consume less cloak meter.
- Activating Cloaking Device while cloaked from a Vanishing Bomb allows the contestant to seamlessly transition to the other invisibility, effectively extending it. There will be a subtle visual cue when activating the cloaking device this way.
- Mantling an object in a motionless state by tapping the forward and jump buttons at the same time will retain the motionless state properties, allowing you to move slightly while still being extremely difficult to see and hear and consuming the least amount of cloak meter.
- Utilize loud sound effects from the arena, or setup your own with Breach Charge, Gravity Vortex, or Thermal Bore to mask your cloak activation sound and/or movement sounds.
Item Mastery
Item mastery XP for the Cloaking Device can be earned solely by activating it.
Each time a certain XP threshold is reached, the item levels up. This does not improve the item, but rewards a unique item customization.
